In addition to working with members from Never Too Late on a new cover song, Chris Burkhardt is also working on some originals: a Pop/Rap original titled "[D]ifferent" featuring the lead singer from Never Too Late and a Metalcore original titled "Letting Go" featuring the lead guitarist from Never Too Late. "[D]ifferent" tells the story of a boy growing up never feeling quite like the rest and how he learned to deal with that feeling. It combines melodic hooks and chorus in both the piano and vocals, with powerful story telling lyrics being rapped throughout the verses. "Letting Go" is a hard hitting yet melodic metalcore song about learning to let go of negativity in your life and the difficulties of doing so. The melodic guitar riffs of the verses and chorus along with the heavy hitting breakdowns that pack a punch are coupled with an aggressive vocal style to really bring home the anguish of letting go. Both projects are still in the writing phase and are expected to move in to the production phase early 2020 with a projected release date in the early summer of 2020.
